Autumn events at the Pottery Café
Amidst the rush of getting organised for ‘back to school’, the Pottery Café has been buzzing with an assortment of fun. From a marathon of coffee mornings, to the Macmillan Big Morning Tea and a visit from Axel Scheffler (Illustrator of the Gruffalo) – autumn began with an eventful bang!
To recap: September was our Month for Macmillan Cancer Trust; a marathon of week day coffee mornings that ran the duration of the month, which we round up with the Macmillan Big Morning Tea on Friday 26th September. Our team of master home-bakers went the extra mile in making us proud, giving up their time and rolling up their sleeves to produce some pretty impressive cakes. It was a great turn out and your support and generosity help to raise nearly £700. So a big thank you to all of those who made it down – it was fun morning and better still- it was for a great cause.
In other very exciting Pottery Café news- Axel Scheffler recently visited our Richmond studio for a pottery painting session. For those of you who don’t have children, Axel is the infamous and brilliant illustrator of the Gruffalo. Not only did Axel offer to sign a few copies of the much loved children’s story, he also left Gruffalo’s mark on a plate as a keepsake for the Pottery Café. Fingers crossed Axel will paint some Emma Bridgewater plates for our upcoming children’s charity auction…. I have no doubts many of you would love to bid on those!
Still to come this autumn is perhaps the biggest week in the Pottery Café calendar- the October half term break. Steering clear of the commercial hype of Halloween, our seasonal theme will be a Magical Woodland Week. Be sure to watch Facebook for all we have planned…. With free marshmallows for all little painters, comps & prizes to be won and some special seasonal tools to inspire creativity – it will be a week not to be missed.
